Providing you support to help others switch to digital

TV across the UK is going digital. This means the existing analogue TV signal will be switched off and replaced with a new, stronger digital TV signal. The London TV region will start to switch to digital on 4 April 2012.

East London CVS Network has been appointed by Digital Outreach to work with the voluntary and community sector during the run-up to the digital TV switchover by providing grants, materials, free training, support and guidance to enable you to signpost the people you support.

We know that some people you support may be worried about the switch to digital TV. They will turn to a local organisation that they know and trust, such as yours, for information and advice. We can help you answer their questions by providing you with:

Free briefing session

Free briefing sessions enable your staff and volunteers to feel confident to give switchover and Switchover Help Scheme advice to people they support.

The Small Grant Programme funds events, activities and initiatives that get switchover and the Help Scheme information to as many people as possible. For example, you could apply for a grant to cover transport for those less mobile so they can get to a switchover event that they otherwise would have missed. Information about the grant programme is enclosed.

Free leaflets and promotional materials

Leaflets and promotional material are available for you to use at events and activities.

Digital UK is the independent, not-for-profit organisation leading the UK digital TV switchover. The Switchover Help Scheme is run by the BBC, to help older and disabled people with everything they need to switch one TV to digital. They have provided the enclosed pack which includes a DVD (with subtitles and British Sign Language) that explains switchover and the Switchover Help Scheme, as well as useful leaflets and promotional posters.
